The Value of Design to New Zealand

In 2017, a report on the economic value of design to New Zealand, commissioned by DesignCo, a national design consortium, completed by PwC, and launched in Wellington by the then Minister of Finance, Hon Steven Joyce, indicated that in 2016 design contributed $10.1b, or approximately 4.2% of New Zealand GDP. The report included interviews with leading New Zealand designers, and case studies of the successful utilisation of design by leading New Zealand firms, including Gallager, Xero, Allbirds and Air New Zealand.
