David Cook
Academic Associate
David is a photographer with a socially engaged photo-documentary practice who collaborates with communities to help tell their stories. His documentary projects often deal with communities in transition and exemplify his commitment to amplifying voices within society. He has worked with Anna Brown on collaborative projects including Ko te Reo ō Ngā Tāngata / The People’s Voice, and Ka mua ka muri — a collaboration with Tairawhiti artists supporting impactful change on climate resilience projects.
David is a senior lecturer in photography at Toi Rauwhārangi in Wellington, New Zealand. Since 2016 he has worked with a team to host four biennial Photobook NZ Festivals in Wellington. www.photobooknz.com
